I think your site is a beautiful thing. i'm only
16 and i long to live in days past. days when my great grandfather had a
few of the windmills you so dreamily photograph. i think that technology
is great, just not for me. i want to be able to go out and not hear some
cars going by. i live out in the middle of nowhere and yet there is still
no peace in it. i know that as soon as i start walking for awhile, i will
only end up eventually at another road. i don't want to be able to do that.
i thing that this site is a great preservation of something we should all
cherish forever. i pity those who will never know what it was like to be
able to see a whole field just swaying with the wind, one not corrupted with
time's progress....or a beautiful wooden windmill, standing lonely in a field
by a simple old oak tree. thank you for making this site.

Does talking to plants help them
grow?
It turns out that there may be some truth to
the belief that talking to plants helps them grow, but not for the reasons
you may think. According to ScienceNet, plants need carbon dioxide to grow,
and when you talk to a plant, you breath on it, giving it an extra infusion
of CO2. However, for this to have any real effect on your favorite fern,
you would have to spend several hours a day conversing with it in close
quarters.
The idea of talking to plants was introduced
in 1848, when Dr. Gustav Theodor Fechner, a German professor, suggested the
idea in his book Nanna (Soul-life of Plants). He believed that plants were
capable of emotions, just like humans, and you could promote healthy growth
by showering your plants with attention and talk.
In his book Training of the Human Plant, Luther
Burbank, a renowned botanist and inventor of the Burbank potato (better known
as the Idaho potato), wrote that plants may not understand the spoken word,
but they were capable of telepathically understanding the meaning of
speech.
And in 1970, New York dentist George Milstein
released Music to Grow Plants By, a record of songs to play for your plants.
In fact, a few studies seemed to confirm that classical or soothing music
would benefit plants, while loud aggressive music, like rock music, could
cause them to wither and die.
Ultimately, there is little concrete evidence
that talking to your plants or playing music for them will help them grow,
but we say if you enjoy it, by all means, do it. Just don't let the neighbors
catch you!

What a beautiful Sept. morning. Looking at the sunrise
over the still waters of the lake..It was worth the trip for you to make,
and the early hour you had to wake. As Autumn approaches and the leaves start
to show the colors of Fall. The sight touches the heart of creatures all...The
thunder sounds in the distance. We all know time marches on with insistence.
The slightly cooler breezes of the universe help us to know that our Higher
Spirit is in charge. Keep traveling my friend...I find comfort in these pictures
you continue to send.. I look forward to what is coming from you each day..and
the unique words and thoughts of yourself you portray..thanks..
Thank you John McCornack. I could not ask for a better
neighbor. Your WEB Page is outstanding. I share it with friends and encourage
them to view it each day. You are reaching out to the world. Oklahoma could
not have a better Ambassador
My, my, but Nicole is a very mature young lady.
She may not like technology but I bet she excels in her lifetime. Her vocabulary
alone shows a wisdom and age few attain. To be able to dream the dreams she
does and look past the fields and roadways the way she does,I feel her spirit
is one of yesteryear. Wish all our young folks had Nicole's outlook. She
is quite a girl. Too bad she is not my neighbor. We could have lots to talk
about and I would tell her some of the things my elderly neighbors taught
me.
Wind Spirit, you
must have angels inside your camera. Heaven surely looks like these breath
taking photos of our "Hold Her Closer" lake between Yukon and Oklahoma City.
I was all right on my diet until you mentioned donut
shop!!!!!!!!!!! Now chocolate covered donuts are calling to me
..........
aah.. you caught the sunrise at Lake OverHolzer...
the dark shadows... were barely lifting... you would see the darkness of
night.. lingering in the waters... the waters reflectioning.... the night
that just passed....hope is there.... just over the horizon... a hint of
pink and soft golden colors...indicating a new day is dawning... the birth
of life again...you had to get up early to catch the sunrise.... the days
will soon be growing shorter.. the nights longer....so beautiful sunsets
and sunrises will come at a premium... but isn't it peaceful... to sit back
with a cup of coffee and wait the coming of the dawn.... seems that everything
begins to stir...wake up.... get ready for the new day.... you show... the
lake...at various stages of sunrise.... we can actually watch the sky...as
it turns in glorious colors... denoting.. the sun is on it's way... to scare
away... the remnants of the remaining darkness..... Eureka !! a new day is
born... I think because I am seeing them through your eyes...the shadow of
the tree... shrouded by dark shadows.... waiting for morning light...aah..
the sunrises of September are not as spectactular.....just a heavely glance
at what the day may bring... a certain softness of day... when the sun doesn't
reach as high.. at it's zenith....I'm so happy to see that autumn will soon
be here...The summer sun bedazzled the eye.... I am ready for the soft glow
of a sun that is farther away.... wait now... come winter.. I will be wishing
for a warmer day.... We are never satisfied...are we...
Bless Nichole's little heart. It isn't every
day you hear from young people that appreciate your efforts to take the beautiful
photos to share with the world. And for that matter how many young people
appreciate the beauty the Lord gives for our eyes to behold?
The pboto above the caption 'Let the Day Begin"
looks like a city in the distance. Such a beautiful painting. God did
for you that morning. Thanks for sharing. God bless you,
That letter by the 16 year old is neat. She
sounds so melencoly though with no challenge to life. I feel sorry for her.
A lot of the beauty you take is within the sound of cars, people, dogs
barking.......she needs to look for the beauty in what is around her like
you do....and she will find the peace.
